In efforts to continue geographically expanding the Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational rosters with top-tiered college talent, John Cheatwood from Marshall University was enthusiastically added.
Cheatwood was just beginning his 1st season with the Thundering Herd before the season was cut short. John made four appearances in 2020 with a 1-0 record which included one start. The Chino, California native tallied 10.1 total innings on the season. Prior to coming to Marshall University, He played one year at Lincoln Trail College where he amassed a 5-3 record with a 2.24 ERA, 67 strikeouts and one save in 59.1 innings pitched and was an academic all-American. “I love to pitch, especially in a new opportunity against such good competition. This tournament is going to be very special”, explained Cheatwood.
John spent time at three different High Schools during his prep career as his family moved. Before finishing his prep career in Chino, California, Cheatwood was a two-time All-State player in Indiana in 2016 and 2015.
