The College Summer Baseball Invitational coming in June to baseball fans everywhere continues to build an impressive collection of collegiate pitchers by adding right-hander Henry Bird from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
During the abbreviated 2020 season, Bird appeared in eight contests for the Islanders, logging 16.1 innings on the mound while striking out 16 batters and allowing just five walks. Bird worked scoreless outings twice at UT Arlington, and once each at Prairie View A&M and Manhattan. Bird struck out nine batters in 5.0 innings of relief against Utah.
Henry is no stranger to the Bryan/College Station area. Before heading to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Henry pitched at Blinn Junior College where he appeared in 13 games and averaged over 7 strikeouts per 9 innings. He also earned All-League honors as he helped the Brazos Valley Bombers win a 2019 Texas Collegiate League summer title as a critical member of the pitching staff. Henry had this to say about the upcoming tournament, “I am fired up about getting back on the mound and am grateful that organizers are going to such great lengths to make this happen for players and fans at home all while keeping us safe."
Henry Bird will be joining nearly 100 other stand-out college baseball players in early June for the CSBI. The 3 Day event will be broadcasted via a Pay-Per-View subscription which starts at $59.95 and includes the entire 6-game tournament LIVE and through Video on Demand!
